Originating in Sweden, the company initially focused on developing airplanes for national defense, with the first deliveries taking place in 1941. Over the years, Saab has evolved into a global player, delivering cutting-edge solutions that have propelled the aerospace and defense industry forward. 

Saab serves the market with world-leading products, services and solutions from military defence to civil security. With operations on every continent, the company develop new technology to meet customers’ changing needs. A notable aspect of Saab's ethos is its proactive stance, with 25% of revenue allocated to Research and Development (R&D), ensuring a continual push towards the forefront of technological advancements. 

In addition to its stronghold in the Swedish market, SAAB has made significant inroads in the United States and, more recently, in Asia. Their collaboration in Japan includes the provision of technologies for various Japanese systems such as engines for submarines and fiber reinforced plastic technology for mine sweeping vessels.

The recent Agreement between the Government of Sweden and Japan for the transfer of defense equipment and technology signifies a landmark development. This agreement serves to streamline collaborations between the two nations, aligning technological interests and fostering a stronger partnership.

Meet Lars:

At the forefront of the team with a map and compass in hand, we find Lars Eriksson, the president of Saab Japan. Eriksson is a married family father of two daughters, who is interested in everything between golf , culinary experiences and travel to historical places. With his impressive career path, Eriksson has walked through different industries and different countries. He commenced his professional journey at Luxor Computer in 1983, to eventually venturing to establish his own software consulting company. After selling his venture, he moved to Stockholm where he joined a global actor within graphics, which after a few years resulted in transition to Belgium and Norway and back to Sweden. Before settling in Tokyo, Eriksson worked in a similar role in Saudi Arabia.

エリクソン氏について
地図とコンパスを片手にチームの先頭に立つのは、サーブ・ジャパンのラース・エリクソン氏。エリクソン氏は結婚して2人の娘を持つ父親であり、ゴルフ、料理、歴史的な場所への旅行など、あらゆることに強い関心を持っている。エリクソン氏は、さまざまな業界、さまざまな国を渡り歩いてきた。1983年、ルクソール・コンピュータでキャリアをスタートさせ、やがて自身のソフトウェア・コンサルティング会社を設立した。ベンチャー企業を売却した後、ストックホルムに移り、グラフィック業界のグローバル企業に入社、ベルギーやノルウェーで仕事をしたのち、スウェーデンに戻る。東京に赴任する前は、サウジアラビアで同様の仕事をしていた。
